Communities of Tomorrow is building partnerships to create sustainable communities. We bring together businesses, researchers and municipalities to develop innovative new infrastructure solutions. We support their work by providing funding, market research and commercialization expertise to make it all happen.
We are looking for businesses and entrepreneurs with innovative infrastructure solutions to problems municipalities face every day – in areas such as road design/construction, remediation, waste disposal, asset management, bridges, water quality, Greywater/wastewater/Stormwater, and sewer systems.
We’re a non-profit, Saskatchewan-based agency that’s here to work for you. If you’ve got an idea for a great new infrastructure product or technology, we can help you with:
- Grant funding to assist with research and development, market intelligence and commercialization.
- Support services from our strategic alliance partners, the research community and economic development agencies.
- Access to a “living lab” - an actual municipality willing to test your innovation in real life with real practitioners providing feedback.
We’ll connect you with the right people to help you grow your business. We are industry-focused, easy to work with, and we don’t care how small or large you are. We simply want to see your idea take flight, just like the dozens of projects we’ve helped since 2003.
There’s a huge marketplace out there waiting for your bright idea. So explore our website, give us a call – or better yet, stop by and see us. We’re interested in helping you grow your business.
Here’s just one example of how we work.
Sean Frisky is probably an entrepreneur much like you – he got into business because he saw a market niche and an opportunity to make a buck or two filling it. His Regina-based company, Ground Effects Environmental Services, designs and manufactures technologies to remove contaminants from soil and groundwater.
Sean approached Communities of Tomorrow for help in developing and commercializing a new process to remediate salt-contaminated soils common to municipal and oil and gas operations. CT provided $250,000 in project funding and connected Sean with experts to help him with his bright idea.
Because of this support, Ground Effects Environmental now has an opportunity to tap into a market worth $40 million annually in Western Canada alone, and is expanding to prepare for the anticipated demand. As Sean said, “Without the proactive support of the CT office and its partners, I know Ground Effects would not have made it to this point on its own”
