 Information for Researchers

Communities of Tomorrow is building partnerships to create sustainable communities. We bring together businesses, researchers and municipalities to develop innovative new infrastructure solutions. We support their work by providing funding, market research and commercialization expertise to make it all happen.

CT is looking for researchers with project ideas for innovative infrastructure solutions to problems municipalities face every day – things like road design/construction, remediation, waste disposal, asset management, bridges, water quality, Greywater/wastewater/Stormwater, and sewer systems.and those in the disciplines that may be able to create new solutions based on the needs of industry or municipalities.

We’re a non-profit Saskatchewan-based agency that’s here to work with you. If you’ve got an idea for a great new infrastructure product or technology, we can help you with:

  • Grant funding to assist with research and development, as well as areas like market intelligence and commercialization.
  • Access to a “living lab” – an actual municipality willing to test your innovation in real life with real practitioners providing feedback.
  • Support services from our partners in the broader research community and economic development agencies.
  • Networking to connect you with companies that need innovative ideas, controlled testing, or prototype design and construction.

We’ll connect you with the right people to help you take your idea from concept to reality. We simply want to see your idea take flight, just like the dozens of projects we’ve helped since 2003.

So let us help you bring your research to life. Explore our website, give us a call - or better yet, stop by and see us. We’ll tell you all about it.

Here’s one example of how we work with researchers.

Communities of Tomorrow was instrumental in putting together a working group to test a water conservation innovation. A total of $349,000 will be invested to assist Dr. Stephanie Young of the university in designing and pilot testing a self-contained, portable, on-site greywater reclamation plant. The plant will use a membrane biological treatment system, that could be integrated into the existing water treatment systems of even the smallest community.
