As a part of its mandate to build partnerships that will lead to innovative municipal infrastructure development, Communities of Tomorrow has created linkages in the area of sustainable roads and transportation systems. We supported the joining together of stakeholders to create the Saskatchewan Alliance for Sustainable and Innovative Transportation (SASIT).
The founding stakeholders are:
- City of Regina
- City of Saskatoon
- National Research Council
- Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association
- Enterprise Saskatchewan
- Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure
- University of Regina
- University of Saskatchewan
- Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology
- Communities of Tomorrow
The common goal of SASIT is to pool resources, share expertise, and manage risk to create new innovations in road and highway construction processes and technologies that will decrease costs and extend infrastructure life.
The mandate of SASIT is to build a world-class transportation centre of excellence in Saskatchewan that develops applied solutions for both local needs and the international marketplace. SASIT will succeed through collaboration between transportation agencies, businesses, and researchers.
